Hi, this is awesome. I hadn't thought to use it that way. I just did it
the way you suggested and it works as described.
Cheers!

I keep my phone in touch typing mode and when I need to enter an accented

somewhere else with another digit (split tapping or whatever it's called).
. After that, i can lift my finger and flick and go around the keyboard as
though I was in standard mode typing and double tap and hold on that
particular letter until the chimes are heard and VO announces that
alternative characters are available. Once that's done, it's a simple
sliding back or forth until I find the accented letter I want and just lift
my finger.
I did for a time have the secondary Spanish language keyboard on my iPhone,
but found it to be redundant
And a distraction since I can access all the different letters and symbols
(inverted question marks, inverted exclamation marks, etc.) with the split
tapping while never leaving touch typing mode and so on mentioned above.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: ABout writing Spanish letters on Iphone
Hi, the best way I have found to do this is by first making sure your typing
is set to standard instead of touch. This means that when you tap on a
letter, it behaves just like any other button or control on the iPhone. This
means that you have to double-tap after first selecting the letter. Once you
have it set this way, you can double-tap and hold on the letter you want,
the letter A for example, then as you hold on the screen, drag it left or
right and you will hear the various accented letters. Just release your
finger when you get to the one you want and it will be entered.
On a side note, since I don't care for standard typing, I prefer the touch
typing, what I tend to do is use DDragon dictation. I can set that to
Spanish, and then I can speak whatever I want. I have to use Dragon because
Siri doesn't currently understand Spanish. I think you have a 3GS, so Siri
is not an issue anyway.
Good luck.

HI guys: I've got a Spanish Iphone 3gs with the Spanish keyboard in
which the way I write Spanish accented letters is get to the letter,
do a double tap and hold; flick left/right to get to the accent I want
and let go; I ask this because in a podcast I heard that the accent is
written by holding on the letter, but why doesn't this method work on
my Iphone? How do you guys write Spanish accented letters for those
who happen to know Spanish and use the Iphone to work in Spanish?
