Thanks, Rajmund. I knew basically how to do it and am really keen to try it out this year instead of doing an over the air upgrade.

I am sure this will help some folks.

Hi Carol,
Written instructions, more than happy. First, depending on the state of the
device, and what you want, you can either use DFU, or just standard mode. I'll
go through both.
1) Without DFU, make sure that restrictions, find iPhone, and pass code are
off, depending which, (if any) are applicable. Now, plug in the I device, and
iTunes should launch. At this point, you simply tab to the restore button,
follow the prompts, and the device will restore. At this point, you can either
just triple click home, or use iTunes to turn on voice over, but I've not done
the latter. And yes, this is when one would restore from their backup, in most
cases, since the device had to be restored, iCloud.
DFU mode. No restrictions, no find iPhone, no pass code has to be turned off
for this one. 1) Power off the i device. 2) Please, if anyone has some light
vision, use it for this one, otherwise it's a hit and miss. Hold down the power
button for 3 seconds, then, immediately after 3, hold power plus home for 10,
now, dead on 10, let go of power, but keep down home, till you hear a chime
from windows, and the it says an i(model) was detected. This i(model) must be
restored before it can be used with iTunes. That's it, you press the button,
and let it do it's thing. Hope this helps, or explains some, but if not, please
do ask. I'm also willing to walk through it off list on something like
faceTime, just no public podcasts of myself.

Hi, Its pretty easy and accessible to recover from a crashed update with
iTunes, or at least, restoring an IOS device, is real easy. It even is
accessible with Narrator, at least with the August update of windows 10. I'd
make a podcast, but not confident enough to do so.

Hi Jonathan,
I am sure apple will fix the problem! Well, i hope so, as i don't use iTunes, as i can't stand it, with my windows PC, and i don't have a Mac. Dave. From: Jonathan Mosen

Sorry but this is just not true. It's a very serious Apple bug which, if you're affected by it, will require you to connect your iPhone to iTunes and possibly perform a restore. It's not just load on the server, it's a critical case of phones being bricked.

really, what's the rush.

this happens every year, and people start saying, that they can't understand,
why their phone is taking forever! to update, then they start panicking.

So, I ran the update and the line went across the screen showing that it was
updating. Then, the iTunes symbol came up and is just sitting there.

What's the problem?

Thanks in advance.
