Hi Mary,
I have to agree with Cristopher here. If you look at the voices for NVDA, from Vocaliser, or on android, or anywhere else, they are much smaller, and sound different. Apple and Nuance can be blamed just as much, equally.

Unless you know that Apple has input into this whole deal, or you can prove that the exact same voices are used elsewhere and don't have this problem, I don't think you can blame Apple for the crappy voices. Where Apple could improve would be either to insist that nuance up their game, which would be nice. And they could, spoken from a non-programming point of you of course, open it up, so that we can use voice is obtained through other sources, such as voice dream reader.

You're right, but Apple chooses to use and upgrade these voices, and I'm sure they also have some influence with Nuance, so I think it's fair to let Apple share some of the responsibility.

Apple gets these voices from Neuance. When an update comes out, Apple updates the voices, so it isn't really Apple's fault. I do know what you
mean about Samantha. I use Alex, or Fred.

Hello Dan, I echo what you are saying. The quality of voices are very poor with this new update. One often wonders why they touch what isn't broken. The voices were not bad before they should just
have left it alone. Just my opinion.

   Hi,

I am wondering if this is really the case or if it is just my phone.

I am using a Iphone 6. I am running the new IOS 10.

Even back in IOS 9 on an Iphone 5 I noticed that even high quality voices had a sort of hissy or fuzzy quality to them. I found that the lower quality Siri voice actually sounded better than the
   high quality voice.

With IOS 10 the problem is still there and may actually be worse. I have downloaded several of the new voices trying to find one
that sounded clearer but there doesn't seem to be one.

   Am I alone in this?
