Keith I don’t believe they have any active noise cancelling capability and I’d say that they block out as much noise as the earPods (i.e. very little) so you are always aware of what’s going on around you.
In my experience they also leak as much noise as the normal earPods (i.e. not very much) but then I don’t listen to music - only talk-based content like podcasts and books and also at a moderately low volume as I want to still be able to hear when I’m 100. Basically they are identical to earPods in every respect apart from the stems are slightly thicker and now wound in cross-section (as opposed to oval like the earPods) and, as I mentioned in my last msg, perhaps the side speaker is ever so slightly less protuberant which makes them more comfortable for me.
