If you have backed up to iCloud before with another device, this device has a full backup in iCloud. I recently bought an iPhone 7. After installing the backup in iCloud and backing up to iCloud with my new 7 for a couple of months, I was getting the message that I was running out of icloud storage. I eventually learned that a separate icloud backup is created. for every device on which you have used your Apple ID. I realized I had a backup of my iPhone 5 and a backup of my friend's 5S that I tried out for a few weeks. At this point, I had sold my iPhone 5 and my friend had his 5S back. When I deleted all the backups except for the backup named quote this i Phone closed quote, I had 2.5 gigs of storage back, which caused me to cancel the extra icloud storage plan I subscribed to until I figured out the problem.
