the Summit was the second phone in the survivor line. the first phone
was originally not named but is now called the All Terrain. The
Summit does not have a flap over the camera. It has a hinged flap
over the lightning port. It can cover the port completely to prevent
dirt from entering. I have no problems plugging in my charger or
headphones into the port. The improvements in the Summit is why I
suggested it specifically and not any case in the Survivor lineup. the
OP originally wanted a Defender case, but could not buy one. buying an
iPhone 6 case often does not work because the bulge for the camera is
bigger for the 7 and dirt, dust and sand easily enters the case
through the headphone jack which is not needed for the 7.

With the survivor summit, the iPhone lays inside what seems like a
shallow box. The top of the case with the screen protector slides on
grooves inside the case. the two pieces lock the phone in place
snugly.

The last time I checked, Otterbox holds the iPhone in place with
clamps on each of the corners. If the iPhone wiggles a little, the
clamps will scratch the glass on the front of the iPhone.
