Hello. I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with your phone, other
than something must have become corrupt during the update. The
first thing you should try is holding down the home and power
buttons for 10 seconds, to see if the device will reboot. If it
doesn't work the first time, try it again. If iTunes won't even
recognize your phone, I am doubtful that this will work, but its
worth trying before getting involved in a more complicated
solution. The next thing that you could try is putting your
phone in DFU mode and then restoring with iTunes:
1. Connect your phone to the computer, and have iTunes open.
2. To enter DFU mode:
- Hold down the home and power buttons for about 10 seconds.
- Next, let go of the power button, but keep holding down the
home button until you hear your computer making the USB connect
sound. This will usually take about 15 seconds.
Note: You may need to make more than one attempt to enter DFU
mode, as timeing is absolutely essential.
3. Finally, try restoring your phone from iTunes.
If you have any further questions, let me know.
Josh

Subject: my update did not go well!
Hi, I tried to update my iPhone four yesterday. It appeared to
download,
but I got a message saying there was an error. Then I hooked my
phone up to
my computer. Which said my phone was in recovery mode, and to
restore it. I
pressed the restore button, and got a dialog saying my computer
would
download an update, and restore the phone. I hit the ok button.
Then I
waited a while, my phone said something, and when I tried to find
out what
it had said, I got total silence. I left it plugged into my
computer, and
let iTunes do it's thing, but waited a few hours, and still
nothing! I then
unplugged my phone from the computer, and now iTunes won't
recognize that my
pghone is plugged in! any suggestions! Help! I really don't
want to have
to go down to the apple store to try and get this resolved, plus
I don't
have apple care!
