I tried the maps app yesterday, and found that I only got turn by turn spoken instructions in the driving mode. And the walking mode, it gave me instructions that you could scroll through to when to turn and then there was an actual map visual on the screen. But it did not speak any of these things In real time I also found that if you tap the tracking button on the bottom left the second time you'll get tracking That will also give you the street names as you approach them.
