All I can say is that Seeing AI reads text on my laptop and my 24 inch LCD screen at work just fine using the short text channel. However, I just tried it on a thermostat for my in-floor heating and it read some text, but did not seem to read the display. When I took a picture with Tap Tap See it came back and said "Thermostat set to 26.5 degrees" which was exactly correct.
