I believe prices may vary from city to city, so One service or the other may
generally cost more than the other. In our area, Lyft is slightly less costly.
Slightly. In my limited experience, Uber seems more likely to increase rates
during peak, high-traffic times--that's during what Uber terms the "surge."
Service quality here is similar for both services. Often the same individuals
drive for both services, keeping both apps on their smart phones.

For the Uber app, it's fairly easy to send a text message to the driver. I text
the driver, indicate where I am (such as "standing next to green hospital
sign") and ask the driver to speak to me when he arrives. I do state that I'm
blind. When the driver arrives, I ask his or her name. If it's the same name
shown on the app, then I'm reasonably sure I'm being picked up by the service.
I don't speak the driver's name until he or she speaks it.

Hope this helps.

Subject: some uber and lift questions

Hey guys,

OK, i wanted some input here on a few things with uber and lift? What
1 do you guys like better? It seems like almost 6 of 1, half dozen of
the other if you know what i mean. Both apps seem to be accessible.
Also, when you are in a place, how do you usually explain to the
driver how to find you since you can't see them coming, like if i'm at
the gym or something and need them to pick me u, how would i know it's
their car outside. Also if anyone has used both, does 1 usually have
a better price than the other?

Cheers,
Jed.
