Hi, I do think Lyft and Uber are about the same. I use them both depending on availability at that time and place. Concerning letting the driver know. I will message the driver ahead of time letting him/her know that I am visually impaired and to please identify themselves when arriving. If I do not get a response prior to them arriving, then I will call them after 30 seconds or so after the time hits 1 minute. It may likely be that they didn't get or read my message. If it is really busy in the pickup location, I will sometimes describe myself as having a white cane or my guide dog. All methods seem to work really well and I have not had many issues. Jeff
