Hi, I think this just goes to show how we're all creatures of habit. I often have to work in a virtually silent environment and so I use my iPhone with a Braille display. I found it a hassle to remember to turn sounds on and off each time in addition to turning the speech off, and so I just stopped turning the sounds back on after a while. I've got very used to not having them and now I've basically forgotten what I'm supposed to need them for. I think Sieghard is right, Apple should provide more flexibility and allow people to choose whether they have a "screen locked" message or a sound, regardless of other settings. I like my "screen locked" message, mainly because it's what I'm used to.
