To answer your question, I have not noticed this issue on my 8.
I stream lots of audio via Audible and listen to playlists whilst I work
and the speaker quality is awesome.
So, this may be a hardware issue.
Might I suggest calling into AppleCare.
The agent will be able to run the iOS diagnostic test and give you
complete assurance as to weather it's hardware or software based.
