Yeah, that's it, the breathiness. It's weird for me. I like the
clarity of speech, though. If I'm going to be using a
machine/computer, I expect a mechanical voice. As long as it's
understandable, especially if I have to use it to access info for long
stretches.

Microsoft voices ... can't, and don't like to  do them. .

Re Eloquence, I think it depends on the type of speaker being used. I
use Reed and Rocco for my PC and JAWS voices. When I'm at home and
connected to my Scarlet soundcard and Genelec speakers, it doesn't
sound like Reed has a cold. But when I'm out and about and using the
laptop speakers, he sounds a tiny bit congested.
