(Big Smile)

I'm laughing, out loud, my friend; as you make an excellent point, as is your
custom.

That wireless device you described sounds marvelous.

Do you have its Amazon item number handy? If so, please post. If not, I'll
search for it.

Okay, it may finally be time for those training wheels, after all.

(smile)

Mark

Subject: RE: A Question About Using the Belkin Rock Star Lightening Splitter

OK, baby Mark, your choice, but given the large choice of compatible charging
pads which all have been around for years I'd rather take a leap of faith than
baby steps especially since on Amazon you can buy two units of many models with
great ratings for the price of this ridiculously overpriced Belkin Rockstar
charger.
I once looked at the Belkin charging stand for the Apple Watch which is also a
Lightning dock for charging your iPhone and I think here in Canada it is $149
which I think is equally overpriced. I bought a nice stand that is very similar
on Amazon for $50 although on that one you have to insert your magnetic watch
charger into a pre-drilled hole, but that's not a big deal and in addition to
letting me charge my Apple Watch and my iPhone on the dock, it also has two USB
outputs in the back where you can plug in say a Micro USB cable for charging
most bluetooth earpieces or speakers and I use the second one to plug in my
Lightning cable so if I want to use the phone while it is charging I can plug
the cable in instead of sticking it onto the dock.
The only feature the Belkin stand has which is super nice is that it has a
3.5mm headphone jack so here you can actually charge your headphone
jack-lacking iPhone 7 or 8 on the dock and use a 3.5mm headset of your choice
at the same time. If you like to use your iPhone primarily with a bluetooth
keyboard then this is an even more attractive option.
OK, now make sure you don't fall and if you progress to a bicycle don't forget
to put on the training wheels *smile*

Take care,
Sieghard

Oh believe me Sieghard, a wireless charging unit is definitely on my list.
However, it's a very new market and I want to see how the proverbial dust
settles before investing in yet more hardware equipment.

Baby-steps, my friend, baby-steps. (smile)

Subject: RE: A Question About Using the Belkin Rock Star Lightening Splitter

I'm surprised Mark bought the splitter, the iPhone 8/8 Plus have wireless
charging and if I bought one I'd rather invest in 2 or 3 charging pads.
I would put one of these on my night table next to my bed where the iPhone is
at night, one on my desk at work where I am sitting most of the day and maybe
one in the living room or kitchen. This way if I put the phone on the charging
pad in the evening I can use the Lightning headset while the phone is charging.
I will have a fully charged phone in the morning, while I'm at work I can put
it on the pad on my desk later in the day (chances are I'll still have between
50 and 80% at that point) and again my phone will be fully charged when I go
home.
If I need to charge it fast or if I want to use an external battery while I'm
out and about I can still plug it in and just use a bluetooth headset for these
occasions. I just think that being able to charge your phone while it's just
sitting on the desk or the night table without having to plug it in would
result in me having a fully or almost fully charged phone most of the time and
personally I certainly doubt I would miss being able to plug it in and use a
wired headset at the same time. For this same reason I would never have bought
the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus since with it you don't have a choice.
OK, now that is my story and I'm sticking to it no matter what Mark has to say
*smile*

Regards,
Sieghard

Mark,

Glad you got a replacement that works. It's a good product but I still miss the
headphone jack.

Hello Alan, et al:

Well, as it turns out, I had a bad adapter.

I simply took the unit into the Apple Store, along with my receipt of course,
and they swapped it out.

Before I left the shopping center, I tested it and it works beautifully.

Thank you all for your feedback on this.

Mark

Mark,

I have a friend who had an issue with her Belkin Rockstar adapter making her
think it was defective. It turns out that she wasn't pressing it firmly enough
into the port for it to completely engage. I didn't have this issue with my
Rockstar adapter but I thought I'd mention it to give you something else to
Tri.

Good luck.
