I agree with those who say it is a personal choice. Although I
have never had an iPod, I have often had more than one iPhone,
but, in my specific case, pretty much found it not worth the
trouble to keep up more than one device at a time. Thus, I would
wind up giving the older iPhone to a family member within a few
weeks, rather than waiting several months as I had originally
planned.

I have an iPhone which also happens to be my work phone. I like
having another device, in my case an iPad, so I can update the
iPad first and use it for a time before applying the update to my
phone so I have less risk of messing up my work phone. I also do
mostly read books from my iPad or Victor Trek rather than on my
iPhone, but that is just personal choice.

Craig,
I don't have an iPod Touch but I agree With others who have said
they end up mainly using their primary device with the latest
technology when they have more than one device. Keeping devices
updated with the latest version of apps and iOS requires a good
bit of administrative time and I prefer to devote that time to
one device. Sieghard also makes an excellent point about the
latest Touch being old technology. These devices cost a
considerable amount of money and new apps are always taking
advantage of the latest technology so hardware updates are
unavoidable. My wallet prefers that I'm only having to update
one device. My available admin time also prefers this.
Good luck with your decision.

You would be buying technology now which is three generations
old, the iPod Touch also does not have the same GPS capabilities
as an iPhone although I don't think that would matter to Craig
since he would use it primarily at home for books, music etc.
I agree with Christopher, the idea of a second device sounds
good, but to me it is also not practical for the same reasons, I
have to spend more time maintaining and upgrading it and all
that.

Craig, if I'm not mistaken, an iPod Touch has all the same
features of an iPhone, but without the phone app which can be
easily supplemented by Skype or one of the other internet based
services.
Mind you, you could only use it in a Wi-Fi environment, as I
don't believe they have a cellular model of iPod Touch, but I
could be wrong.

Hello, everyone.
Much of what I use my iPhone for can just as well be
accomplished with an iPod. I spend a lot of time listening to
music and e-books, neither of which requires the services of an
iPhone. I'm curious to hear from those of you who own both
devices. Do you find your are using your iPod often? Do you
regret the purchase?
Thank you for all help.
Craig
