Hello Kelly, I completely understand your concern.
Take it from me, using these devices is nothing like learning to use a screen reader. Trust me. On the one hand, there isn't much HomePod can do, as yet, and on the other? Alexa recognizes normal speech patterns. Having said this, I have decided that two Smart home systems is enough for me, at present. Translation? I'm not purchasing any Google Home speakers, anytime soon. (smile).
