I’ve got a 5S that I’m using for my second business line. I grabbed it off of
eBay for something like $130 at the time.

I did change the battery a few months ago since it was dropping from 90% to 20%
almost in the blink of an eye (exaggerating just a little), but the camera
doesn’t work for scanning, the volume up button is now touchy and touch ID
doesn’t want to work. But it’s still chugging along for incoming and outgoing
calls and everything else. I pay between $10 and $19 a month with my MVNO for
this line. I only have a couple of extra non-native apps on it like Pandora,
MLB @Bat, the Ultra Trainer app for workout timers, etc.

Even if I wanted to consider seling it, it would probably not be worth it.
Maybe $50 cash on Craigslist, but who wants to go through that hassle? I’ll use
this bad boy until it finally gives up the ghost or if I find its performance
with iOS 12 is too slow, then maybe just keep it for streaming music on my home
wifi and workout/food timers.

Good for him and I guess it does speak to the quality of iPhones, I’m sure the
battery can’t be much good any more unless he had it replaced at least once or
twice. Maybe he can upgrade to a 4S in a year or two *smile*. I think if he
upgraded to an iPhone 8 or iPhone X it would be too much of a shock for him.

Can you be more specific about broken parts? I know of a blind man in Kentucky
who is still hanging on to an iPhone 4.

Subject: Disposing of my old iPhone 5S

Good day.

I have my new 8 Plus and am going through some shakedown with it. I still have
to deal with some settings issues and need to learn the new features I have.
It appears all the data transferred successfully.

Now what I need is a way to dispose of my old 5S, which is possibly salvageable
for someone needing an old phone, though it has some broken parts.

I have no idea how best to go about taking care of this, and would like to
bring back some cash I can use for other expenses, if possible.

Please advise me on a good course of action.

Bill Outman
