This can be done, I just helped teach a course on iTune U that is called 
“replacing your laptop with an iPad”  You can do it all, and I have been doing 
it for almost 6 months successfully.  I use apps for my banks, and even my 
business apps for distributors work on the iPad.  So it is all a matter of 
personal preference.
