Amazon has a number of Echo devices. The tap is one which has a rechargeable battery so you can bring it wherever you want to have it in your house, but as the name indicates, you have to Tap it in order for Alexa to listen. I can't remember the name of the other person who said you can set it up to always listen, but as he pointed out, it would probably run down the battery pretty quickly which is why Amazon has not designed it that way to begin with.
