I also have just checked my desktop PC, and discovered that I'm now
running the 12.9 update.
Last year Eric who works at VFO as their VP of software management came
to Australia to deliver a keynote address for the introduction of jfw 2018.
Quite a number of people including yours truly put the question of
iTunes and JAWS accessibility degradation to him.
I do concur Richard that back in the day of iTunes 10/11 things weren't
so bad between jfw and iTunes.
Basically at the time he said that they were working with Apple to
improve access.
Since his visit I was told that one of the key players at VFO who was
speaking with Apple regarding accessibility of iTunes and JAWS has left
them to start a new role at Microsoft.
Frankly I don't think Apple cares much for the demise of Windows users.
After all if it drives more people to convert to the Mac they won't be
complaining.
I hope we can reach a time where iTunes is retired and everything can be
done from an iOS device + iCloud.
I've sent them email after email asking for the issues to be addressed.
Only to get their standard response.
I just hope I can get to my encrypted backup when setting up my new xs.
After that I'll just use iCloud and remove the program altogether.

like syncing music or adding Ringtones.
I also do passworded protected backups on the computer.
I do not use its file sharing as I have always found that to be too
tedious for words. If I want a file on my iPhone, I put it on dropbox
and then add it to my phone.
I am using the iOS 12 beta on my iPhone.

I wouldn’t assume that it is because from what I heard it is largely
inaccessible.
I would probably recommend not to upgrade at this point if this is so
important to you.
I am on the iOS 12 public beta and not that log ago hooked up my phone
to the laptop to transfer some ringtones to it. This is pretty much
the only thing I ever use iTunes for at this point and if Apple made
it possible one day to transfer ringtones to the phone via iCloud I
would probably not even put iTunes on my computer any ore. Anyhow,
what I wanted to say is that I was able to put the ringtones on my
phone running iOS 12 just fine so I don’t think you need to upgrade to
this version of iTunes if you upgrade to iOS 12. I haven’t really
checked what this upgrade is supposed to do and of course it is always
possible that the final release of iOS 12 will require this latest
iTunes update, who knows.
One thing is for sure, if at all possible you want to upgrade to iOS
12 since it works great and especially if you have an older device
you’ll notice improvements.

There have been reports of this problem on various lists. Some people
say that is perfectly accessible with Jaws, while others say that
column browsing is broken, but list view is fine. There was a big
problem with nVDA, but that has apparently been fixed with the
release candidate three for the next version. I guess the thing is to
upgrade at your own risk. I don’t know what accounts for the wide
variation in results.
