The download sizes vary between the different devices. For example I have an iPhone 8 Plus and an iPhone 8 and there are two different downloads required when updating each device. I have updated my 8 Plus and the download to disk was just shy of 4 GB, my updated phone shows that the iOS is using almost 10 GB on the actual phone. The downloaded file is a compressed file which is extracted, installed and then cleaned up. The physical install file is still on my Mac hard drive, but any temporary files used during install should be cleaned up after a successful install onto the phone. Jim Weiss [email protected]
