Are you saying you don’t use a passcode or Touch Id or, if you have an iPhone X
Face Id?
Not sure if you can use 2-factor authentication if you don’t have your device
protected. For the most part 2-factor authentication just means that your Apple
Id is protected with a second layer of security, e.g. the first time you sign
in you are sent a code you have to enter after you enter your password. You can
set up devices as trusted devices and consequently you don’t have to always put
in the code. You can read more here:

Two-Factor Authentication for Apple Id<https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204915>

Subject: question on 2-factor Authentication

Good Morning!

I just noticed that when I do an ICloud backup, my messages are not highlighted
to back up.

When I turned them on for back up, I got the message that I couldn't turn that
feature on without first activating 2-factor authentication.

I'm not sure why this is, but it is.

My question is exactly how does 2-factor authentication work and how will it
affect my turning on and off my mini IPad and IPhone? Will I need to use a code
every time I lock my screen or turn them off and on?

I've never used it, but I do want my messages backed up.

Thanks.

Vickki
