Hi Bill, I don't usually explicitly close the app. I do not have to sign in every time. When you request a ride tonight, it should recognize your location, and you would then have to put the address where you want to go.
And yes, I have found that calling the driver to let them know I am blind and where to look for me has worked well. I figured this would be a good opportunity to do an actual trip, as I would have the advantage of others around me if I needed help. My biggest fear has been identifying the driver, being a total, though I understand there is a way to call or text from within the app; calling has been the consensus on this list.
