Joshua, that's understandable about how that makes you feel, because telling our friend some of these great things anyone of us can do, and he would probably admit that it's great, he too won't give it a chance. With all the accessibility and portability these phones have, it's sad in away to think someone wouldn't want to see what it's like. No matter how old you are, you're still the same person, even when one gets in to ther mid 60's like me or older. It's a matter of being open to what could be so beneficial that makes all the difference.----- Original Message ----- From: "Joshua Hendrickson" <[email protected]>

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the lady in question wouldn't listen
even if I told her what I can do on my iPhone. I tried to help her
with the victor stream, and she absolutely wouldn't listen to any
directions I tried to give her. Maybe I shouldn't, but people who
have defeatest attitudes about learning things seriously annoy me.

Joshua, no one is never to old to learn. The other day we were talking about

one of our friends, and we were thinking of how he enjoys magazines and
books from nls, how impressed he would be in knowing about the scanning and

gps apps on the phone. we were thinking if only he learned one app at a
time, an app that would be something important to him, knowing him he could

catch on. Even if he began with using the app even if he didn't make calls
on it, but knowing him, he would tell us he's not motivated and I believe
that's true for the way some feel, not knowing if they could do it. While I

was really hessitant about whether I would take to a touch screen, I just
had to give it a try with 2 experiences I had in 2 different stores. If you

could think of anything that would be so meaningful to your friend that she

could do on the iphone, you could mention that to her, and also share with
her the new things you're learning with your phone. As far as being
hessitant about navigating and typing on the screen, I found that I really

liked typing on the screen. It's not very often that we use the bluetooth
keyboards, but it helps in certain situations. Before long, you'll be able
to help other members here, with all the experience with your phone, and
telling us how you do some certain things, things that you discovered and
telling us about treasures of apps you found. Being a part of this group,
you're never alone with all the collective know how and knowledge from those

that began with the iphones 6 or 7 years ago to some of us that have only
had our phones for a little over 1 year. I joined here last march, and this

has to be about the most helpful and supportive list I've been on.

It has maybe been a couple weeks since I've joined this email list.
However, since I've joined, I already feel as if I've learned some
things. Just reading how helpful those of you all are to those who
even have had their iDevices for a long time is very refreshing. I
can't wait to get my hands on my new iPhone. Even if I can't get my
contacts on to my new phone I have a plan to get most of them back. I
know once I learn my phone, I hope that I will be able to help someone
when they have a new device. Thanks for all the articles posted, and
it is so cool to hear from those of you on the list who have actually
written books on how to use the iPhone's and similar devices. I also
want to commend those of you who are somewhat elderly and still choose
to use the iDevices. I have no idea if being elderly would make it
more difficult to learn or not. Its just cool that you guys don't
want to give up. I know of one person who is elderly and she has
insisted on various lists that she is to old to learn something like
an iPhone. I know that everyone has their own situations, but I just
wish that this person would at least look at an iPhone to see if she
could learn it or not. Saying you are to old to learn something
without even trying it seems kind of defeating to my way of thinking.
I'm an acoustic guitar player. When I got my first guitar and started
learning how to play it, I never went into my practicing thinking that
I couldn't learn a new chord or a new song. Sorry for kind of
rambling, but keep up the great work all. Again, I'm so glad to have
a list that I know there are people who I can turn to if I have
problems.
