Your signature is very apt to the topic, Holly. It is so true--we give up, often, before we would be just-about ready to "get it"! I'm one of those unfortunates who takes for-EVER to learn a new device--I hate being new at anything. I want the end result, but not always the journey! For me, it isn't even age-related; I'm in my mid-50's, and have always dreaded learning new stuff, ha, ha! Also, for me, part of it is a learning style thing--I'm a Braille user from way back, and find there's not often enough Braille material for training--most people can hear a tutorial online or whatever, but five words in, I'm already going, "What'd he just say" because the words have already left my brain! And, there are not many people like me, so the audios get the most demand, therefore the most circulation.
