Hi!

Perhaps they are doing it for the people who would like to have benefits of using iOS at significantly lower prices.

Also, I rarely listen to music on my iPhone. Sometimes when I'm out or travelling. It never crossed my mind to use iPhone as a music player in my house because I hate when calls or notifications interrupt the playback so the iPod is better solution for that.

Hello Mary, Sieghard and list
Just my few cents. I bought the last iPod touch 6th Gen which was available in
SA two years ago. Maybe I am ignorant but I can not find anything that the
Touch can do which my iPhone 7 can't do and even the battery life is not so
good. Had I known this I would just have obtained an iPhone with more memory,
exactly what I am going to do at the end of the year when my iPhone contract
expires. So the short and the long is that I can't understand why Apple
produces new iPods when an iPhone can do the same and much more or are there
features of the iPod which I miss?
Regards
Fanus

Well, I would not have minded a $50 price increase for a better chip which
would mean more updates. Also, they should’ve made the entry level 64. They’re
just being cheap. My guess is that in two years, that thing is not going to be
seeing updates any more. Then what?

Going from an iPod Touch 5th Gen to this newly announced model would be a huge
difference, the 5th generation iPod touch has an A5 chip which is even a step
down from the iPhone 5 which had an A6 chip which means it was far from
supporting 64 Bit.
I know people complain why Apple didn't put their latest A12 chip into the iPod
Touch, but the same people would probably complain if Apple did and it would
cost $50 or $80 more, also, I have a feeling that for what most people use an
iPod Touch for simply does not require such a powerful processor.

You will notice a definite difference from the five. Enjoy! I have a 6th gen,
which has a speed difference from my fifth.

You could possibly use it for beta testing if you're into that. Or a streaming
device. Yeah I don't know why they did the A7 instead of the A11 or A12.
They should at least have put in the A11 chip.

I thought I would pose this question, since Apple just announced the update of
the iPod touch today. It will have the a10 processor, the same one that is in
an iPhone 7 or 7+. That makes it two years old going on three, just like my
iPhone 7 Plus. No other significant changes that I am aware of, except the
space. The cheapest one has 32 GB for $200, 128 for 300, and 256 for 400.
Earlier this year, they released the iPad mini five, with the A 12 chip. That
is the current chip. I can’t remember the prices for iPad mini, but my gut
reaction when I saw this, it was that Apple was cheeping out. They should have
given us at least the A 11 if not the 12th. I am really disappointed. I was
looking forward to perhaps purchasing an iPod touch, but now that I see that it
has the same processor as my iPhone 7 Plus, forget it.
