I once kept my old iPhone, the 5S at the time, after I got my 6S. I thought I could use it at home just like an iPod Touch, but I quickly realized that this arrangement was not for me. I ended up always using my 6S, I found it inconvenient to update both devices and even though Audible books play fairly seamlessly on another device where you left off, it occasionally does not work, then I have to find my spot and so on. I appreciate how some may find it just right to have an iPhone and an iPad or iPod Touch, but for me having my iPhone and my PC is equally perfect. As far as phone calls and such interrupting when I listen that is perfectly fine for me, if I listen to a book and somebody calls I want to stop the book anyways so if it stops automatically and then continues to play when I hang up that is I think pretty sweet. When it comes to music then I almost always listen via Sonos at home and if I do listen on my iPhone and somebody calls the same applies, I would want my music to stop anyways. I much prefer to maybe get a new battery installed if I use the one on my iPhone a lot and recharge it a lot, still much cheaper than to pay hundreds of Dollars for a device which is basically the same as what I have with less features.
