You should buy the latest model which was only released recently and unless there is something weird going on you won’t find it cheaper on Amazon than you would be able to buy it directly from Apple. If you buy it directly from Apple it will automatically be registered on your Apple Id and should anything go wrong I think it is much easier to deal with Apple about it.
