Yes, changing emails is a big job. I like Outlook.com better since I prefer the more traditional folder structure over the labels in Gmail and their All Mail box or whatever they call it. I know this is probably better now, but I also find syncing of contacts and all that is also just more of a matter where you can say "it just works". Overall I always thought the Exchange Active Sync protocol; used by Outlook.com is better than IMAP. Again, I don't want to start a big discussion, but that is just my opinion and there was a time when IMAP did not automatically sync contacts and calendars and you had to set that up separately, don't think that is necessary any more, though.

Apple already has my current email address, if that is what you mean. When I was trying to create the new account, I had to enter my Apple id, as well as my password, one might think that should be enough though, but I guess not.
