Yes, using the Notes app is a great way to get used to typing on the phone. If you do not have enough vision to see the screen, do not by the APH talking Typer program. It is really designed for a bluetooth keyboard and the exercises do not tell you the punctuation marks that are expected, so it ends up being an exercise in frustration. I gave them that feedback months ago.
