I thought it was going to explode or something. it took an hour to go from a small crack to one big enough for a pencil to go into.
as for a backup I had an encrypted one on my computer, and everything was flawless, passwords and everything. I am pretty happy with how it turned out even though it took over a week to resolve, oh and they gave me a loner phone while mine was being fixed. I have n complaints at all. Before I took my phone into Apple, I made both an iTunes and an iCloud backup. I did this in order to see what kind of differences would be the result when restored, although I already had a pretty good idea.
