Turn the rotor till you come to sounds and swipe up or down with one finger to toggle sounds on or off. If you don't hear sounds in your rotor, but you hear other things like hints, headings, punctuation, etc. go into your settings, go to general, accessories, and voiceOver. In the voiceOver settings, go to rotor where you'll see what has actually been selected. If sounds is not among your rotor selections, double-tap on sounds to put it into your rotor. Hope this helps. When speech volume is set to 0 in the rotor, you wont get speech unless you're using Alex for some reason. He will speak if the rotor volume is below 5 percent. So here's what to try. Make sure your phone is unlocked and turn the rotor and flick up once each time you turn it. I'm not sure how many things you have in your rotor, but 10 times of turning and flicking up once might get you to the volume. A lot of people have lost speech and got it back by doing this. Actually I've given this advice to several people here on this list over the years and they've had success with it.
