Robert, just a few days ago, the moderator of a yahoo group knit list I'm on
told us she was going to have to close the group due to yahoo closing the
uploading of files to the file space of the group space. Right now she's just
thinking about running the new group from her email, but possibly she'll go to
another server.

I think it's very likely to be a hoax. I've been getting similar messages
that are supposed to be from Yahoo, but when I checked one yesterday, it was
sent from a non-Yahoo address. I would suggest that your friend log into their
account on the web, not by following a link in the message but by going to
yahoo.com or whatever their email address is. they can check on that page to
see if there's actually a problem.

servers.?? I don't get the technical details, but everything goes through Yahoo
even if someone doesn't have a Yahoo address.
If it's not coming from her ISP, she could check the Yahoo support page and
see if it is some kind of Yahoo privacy issue. They've been doing some tweaks
since they had millions of accounts hacked and had to settle with those
customers.
