Definitely sounds like a hoax, if she checks the email this message actually came from it would most likely be clear. Having said this, nobody in my opinion should use Yahoo for their email, I have never seen so many security issues or read about so many security problems with Gmail or Outlook.com as I have with Yahoo mail. Almost always when I get an email from somebody I know which are some sort of spam they have a Yahoo account, you know, the kind where it says "Hey, I'm on holiday in France and all my stuff was stolen, can you please send me some money".
