Yes, any skin contact, or any contact by a conductive material like what they 
make smart devices styluses out of will result in the phone thinking the was a 
touch.
 You can even by gloves with that material on the finger tips.
For that matter, you can put the iPhone in a ziplock bag and use it through the 
plastic.
