That did it. I had touched the screen before swiping. This time I waited to hear the date & swiped before touching anything.
You would think that something one does fairly frequently like updating apps would be a tab rather than both games & arcades each having their own tab. Of course that is only my opinion, worthless as it is to Apple! Thanks much for the direction.
