HI Debbie I can confirm this behaviour and I am still a ios12 user I knew this behaviour was now and then taking place in the 6 years now that I am having iphones. Sometimes it does occur sometimes not. Write Apple accessibility about that. Davy

If so, there's a setting which makes the phone respond differently in some situations if you are looking at it than if you aren't. You may have that setting on. In Accessibility Settings, there's an Attention feature that determines whether this is the case.
