Cash Reader is amazing, a bit on the expensive side, but given how many currencies it supports and how often it is updated it is worth it as far as I am concerned. I actually don't use a money reader often since all Canadian bills are marked with braille and since the bills are plastic and not paper the dots can usually be felt even on hard used bills. There are of course always a few which are so beat up that you can't feel the dots any more, but primarily I also bought Cash Reader if I am in other countries and it even supports Philippine Pesos and it's a one-time purchase. I rather pay something for an app which helps the developer to keep it going than to have it free, get used to it and then it disappears after a couple of years.
