That has been my experience as well. So, if auto brightness is on and the screen curtain dims it to 0; that would be the same result as turning off auto brightness and manually setting to 0. So, if a brightness of 0 helps a little with battery, than either method is a valid approach in my humble opinion.
While I’m at it, the person that started this thread spelled curtain with an o n at the end, but the correct spelling is a I n at the end; so c u r t a i n. Phonetically, it sounds the same but spell check will help correct things like that. If the Screen Curtain is on when you do a screen shot, you will get a black picture. But, it won't change how photos are taken. You should do a test to confirm for yourself.
