I have two roku tvs, and yeah, the voices on both are pretty terrible. I also
have a fire stick, which works pretty nice, but for some reason has gotten
really slow. I bought an Apple tv a while back, and really only after a few
months ago got to be good enough with it to enjoy using it, but now, out of the
three, my Apple tv box is my favorite. I programmed my roku to just go to the
Apple tv input upon powering it on, so I can usually bypass the horrible roku
voice, unless there is a channel on roku which is not available for the Apple
tv. Also, if you need or want the interface in another language that isn't
English, Roku is not for you. Either buy the fire tv or fire stick, or the
Apple tv, which technically is more of a set top box. I would love to see an
actual tv with the apple software. I think they did that in the old days. But
now that roku and amazon are giving their systems to tv manufacturers, it would
be cool if Apple would do the same. Of course, I understand this isn't likely,
since they like control of both software and hardware.
If you can get past the terrible voice, I would say Roku has the biggest
variety of channels.
