Yes it is. Touch the number, flick up to more, double tap, and then see if a button labeled Info shows up, if not repeat the above until you find a button called Info and double tap it. You should then find the usual buttons to share etc., and the last one on the screen will be block contact. Double tap, then flick to block again and double tap and you can delete the messages and that number won't be able to text you.
