I've done that, but the sound still goes away eventuallyl.

Yes, for some reason or another. That part of the app issue hasn't been
addressed. What I do is as someone suggested on this list a couple weeks back.
I double click the home button to bring up the app switcher, I then single tap
the home button to go home. This will leave the audio in tact & playing. I use
Tunein to listen to ESPN radio if I'm not interested in hearing a teams
announcers such as the Yankees & Tigers announcers.

Although I can use the app, it still goes away when the phone goes in to
screen-lock mode. When I go to home, as well. If I shut voice-over off it stays
longer but still goes away after about 20 minutes. A possible work-around is
to listen to the play-off's on ESPN radio through that app.
