What you are saying to do worked for me last night, screen never locked. The phone was charging; perhaps that made a difference. We’ll see when the games start today.

What I do is as someone suggested on this list a couple weeks back. I double click the home button to bring up the app switcher, I then single tap the home button to go home. This will leave the audio in tact & playing.
