I have both battery percentage, and low power mode off, and get alerts at 20 and 10 %. If you turn low power mode on in settings, battery, it means low power mode is on, which means it locks after 30 seconds, and limits other features. You are offered low power mode when the 20 and 10 % alert happens to try and get enough use out of your device before you can get to a charger.
