Simon, do you know about the accessibility part of it? Idealy if it werepossible, in an app it would be really great if I could keep track of myheart rate, keeping track of the number of miles and anything else that Ican't remember now that my friend and I use to keep track of when we rodethe exercise bikes in an apartment building where I lived about 7 years ago.I think the other item we kept track of was the speed. There is a range of cycle machines that utilise real bikes and also useiPads to allow the riders to cycle virtually with each other through theapp on the ipad,


They have just done this with the Tour de France this year due to covid,

Very very coold systems but not cheap.

Like anything, just depends on how much you want to spend.

I've got a Nautilus treadmill which has an iOS app. The app is completely VOaccessible, but it's only for reviewing workout stats. They also make a lineof exercise bikes which I'm sure has a similar app set up. If you're lookingfor something where you can control or choose a program from within the app,that, I'm not aware of. If there is a bike like that out there, I'd beinterested in knowing. We've got an old Schwinn recumbent model which workswell enough, but I'd probably want to go for something similar to theNautilus where I can at least review my numbers.

It really does depend on what it is you are trying to do.

The other thing is you can use a standard bicycle on a cycle erg, So youcan get them so you sit the back wheel on the roller and the wheel is lockedin to place and use the gearing on the bike to change your resistancelevels, And there are some which have resistance on the roller as well.

Or you can get the ergs that you take the front wheel off and lock theforks on to a bracket that holds the front in place while again the backwheel sits on a roller and spins as you pedal.

But yes if you have an apple watch it can give you HR and time etcmeasurements But you can also get caidence / speed computers that cost verylittle but have to be put on the bikes to measue what speed and distancesyou are cycling.

I have my own road bike on a cycle erg that the back wheel locks in to andI use gears for resistance, I have my apple watch to measure some things anda caidance meter to measure speed and RPM from the back wheel, these arefed into an app on my phone which is from a company called wahoo,and thatalso talks to my HR monitor which is again a wahoo device and gives a betterreading than the watch does,


it really depends on what you wantto spend or do as to what it costs you.

When I cycle I take it pretty seriously, but that's just because it'ssomething I've done for years.

And if you are looking for a consumer grade bike which supports Gym Kit,Apple's developer kit or interface for such things then good luck, I did notfind one under $10,000 which means it's really designed for professionalgyms.

We bought a spin bike last fall and decided to get just a basic modelwithout any connectivity because both my wife and I have Apple Watches whichwe use with the indoor cycle workout to track time, heart rate and calories.Yes, some bikes keep track of a virtual distance, but who really cares ifthe bike says you biked 6 miles or 10 miles, I am after a good workout andfor that my heart rate and calories burned are more important. I don't knowhow much you want to spend, but you are better off investing in a goodquality bike without a fancy controller which may or may not give you whatyou want, if anything spend that money on an Apple Watch which you can usefor any type of workout not just your bike.
