I don't always have my phone near me to touch it to get the time, and don't own a talking watch or an Apple watch. Having the Chime app set to sound the quarter hour gives me a rough idea of how much time has gone by. The sound is discreet enough to not bother anyone within hearing distance.
I'm glad this app will still work with the new iOS. I'll be sad if it ever goes away.
