I have to agree. I switched to the Mac a year ago this month.

Voice-Over on the Mac functions quite differently from screen-readers on
Windows, so you will need to give yourself plenty of time and patience to learn
the new system. Also, Mac does many things differently as well.

As for going exclusively to the iPad without a computer, it is possible unless
you need to do semi-complex word processing. Pages for iOS is accessible except
when it comes to renaming files. For that, it gets difficult. That said, there
are apps for the iPad which do not exist for the iPhone, that write and edit
word documents. As I do not yet have an iPad, I do not know if, or how well,
they are accessible. I've played with a friend's iPad for surfing the net and
really enjoyed the relational experience for examining web pages. With my Mac,
it is a bit more hit and miss, though overall, I prefer surfing the net with my
mac.

In my case, my iPhone 5 is my primary computer. I use my mac for editing and
formatting papers for my doctoral studies. I also use it for EndNote reference
tracking as EndNote is required by my University, and I have not yet found an
iOS version of the program. If one ever comes out, I may almost never turn on
my Mac.

Do to the nature of my research, I am currently saving for an iPad Mini. I will
need it when I begin the practical portion of my research.
