Greetings. One other thing to add on this thread that I'm very late to. Even if you get an alert on the watch when the phone is locked, that alert should be in your Notification Center or on the lock screen the next time you look at the phone. I will often get alerts on the watch, and check the phone to read the alert, simply because of the louder speaker on the phone.
