I plugged it in and nothing happened I checked the volume up and down and checked everything else I could think of.  Janet

Just a thought. Plugging in your iPAD should force it to turn on. That at least resolves whether or not it's on presuming no power outage or cable issues. After that, it's all about making certain the thing isn't muted or the volume is too low. Hit the volume up button a few times. After a moment, hit the side button. That should result in some noise. I guess there's always a small chance that your iPAD has gotten an update. There's one due out pretty soon. Plugging it in and waiting is about the only other thing I can think of presuming you have nobody with sight who can look at it. Hope that helps. It's always nerve-racking when silence holds sway.

Hi I did exactly that as well as I have been caught out with the
    same thing.

    >>> Janet, this may sound a little strange to you the question I’m
going to ask you. By any chance do you have a wireless headset
that had been turned on and it inadvertently never got turned off.
I had have a set of AirPods that I didn’t realize one of them got
lost and was out of the case and could not figure out why my iPad
did not turn on and we worked on it and worked on it and worked on
it. Finally my brother found an AirPod on the floor underneath the
couch. So, that is why I’m asking you that question.
